Assuming you already have a Roth IRA LLC as well as a solo 401k that allows for voluntary after-tax contributions, which a solo 401k from My Solo 401k Financial does allow for voluntary after-tax contributions, see the following for information regarding processing a conversion of voluntary after-tax solo 401k funds to a Roth IRA. LLC
To get the funds in the Roth IRA LLC, here are the steps:
a. After you make the voluntary after-tax contribution to the solo 401k, you then need to convert the voluntary after-tax solo 401k funds to the self-directed IRA.
b. To move the funds from the voluntary after-tax solo 401k to the self-directed Roth IRA, you will need to make a check payable from the voluntary after-tax solo 401k account to the self-directed IRA custodian. The check is typically made payable in the name of the self-directed IRA custodian FBO I(for the benefit of) your name followed by the words “Roth IRA”. Write “conversion from voluntary after-tax solo 401k” on the memo section of the check and mail the check to the self-directed IRA custodian for deposit into the self-directed Roth IRA.
c. Once you have mailed the conversion check to the self-directed Roth IRA custodian, we need to report the conversion to the IRS on Form 1099-R so make sure to complete the following online conversion form so that we collect the necessary information to issue the Form 1099-R which gets issued by February of the year following the conversion. https://www.
d. After the conversion check clears the self-directed Roth IRA account, you then work with the self-directed Roth IRA custodian in having the funds invested from the Roth IRA into the Roth IRA LLC. The Roth IRA custodian will ask you to complete their funding form directive and will subsequently wire the funds from the Roth IRA to the Roth IRA LLC bank account.
