Self-directed Solo 401k Daily Question: Can I take a loan against crypto in my Solo 401k?

Good question!

Investing solo 401k funds in Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies is one of the most popular reasons that clients open Solo 401k plan with us.

Several of the crypto exchanges and platforms allow their customer to borrow against the crypto assets that are in their accounts.

You are not permitted to pledge your Solo 401k assets as collateral on a personal loan.

Therefore, no a Solo 401k owner is not permitted to take a loan against crypto that is in their solo 401k.
