Self-employed Solo 401k Question: Do I have to earn a minimum amount of earned self-employment income to qualify to open a Solo 401k?

Good question!

There is no minimum requirement – To qualify to open a Solo 401k, one must be reporting self-employment activity and have no full-time w-2 employees working for any business owned by such person and any related persons (e.g. spouse).

To qualify to open a Solo 401k, one must have consistent and legitimate self-employment activity, but again there is no requirement to have a minimum amount of self-employment income.
